Centrifugal Flow Regulator, CEV
The Centrifugal Flow Regulator, type CEV, with European Technology Verification is manufactured for a specific capacity, typically within a capacity range of 0.2 l/s up to 80 l/s (see diagram). The flow regulator is used for small to moderate volumes of rainwater and certain types of industrial waste water.
The design of Mosbaek's Centrifugal Flow Regulator ensures a mean water discharge/flow that is significantly higher than other simple flow-control techniques. It has steeper flow-control characteristics and can maximise discharge at both the 'peak' of the characteristic and the design point (hdesign, Qdesign). See an illustration of this in the CEV regulator's characteristic.
This ideal design gives Mosbaek's Centrifugal Flow Regulator unique flow-control properties which is why Mosbaek's flow regulators have the biggest orifice openings and thus the lowest risk of clogging. In addition, the inlet is not divided by partition walls or the like. The bigger the orifice, the lower the risk of clogging.
During operation, the flow regulator's orifice opening is unchanged; it does not gradually get smaller when the water level rises, as is the case for some flow-control techniques.
The flow regulator's inlet is from below. This ensures that there is a water seal, and that the sealing column of water is as tall as possible.
The CEV regulator has an adjustable inlet orifice. The inlet orifice is infinitely adjustable and can be adjusted to ±25% of the mean water discharge/flow. The setting interval for each individual flow regulator varies. The flow regulator is also available with a replaceable outlet baffle which enables further adjustment of the capacity.
The flow regulator is the only one on the market whose capacity can be adjusted on site without having to replace components: two screws are loosened with a hexagon spanner and the orifice is adjusted. If you want to change the capacity, you can contact Mosbaek A/S. We identify the flow regulator from its reference number and then calculate the orifice setting for the new capacity.
A CEV flow regulator is available with coupling (wedge coupling) and a stick to facilitate convenient, clean installation and dismantling from ground level. This enables inspection, service or capacity changes of the flow regulator to take place under ideal hygienic and working-environment conditions.
Equipping the flow regulator with a closed coupling claw on the front provides the flow-control options as follows:
- Throttle effect when the flow regulator is in normal position
- Shut-off by rotating the flow regulator 180° on a vertical axis. This option can be useful in the event of a tank lorry accident etc.
- Bypass when the regulaor is dismantled/lifted off.
Frequently, the Centrifugal Flow Regulator can be built into existing or designed-engineered chambers or tanks as it requires very little space; there must be a sump however.
Proporties
- Controls flow using centrifugal force in the vortex chamber
- Inlet from below to maximaise the sealing column of water
- Large orifice opening that remains unchanged during operation
- No moving parts
- No electric components
- Made of Acid-resistant stainless steel AISI 316L (Werkstoff 1.4404)
The properties reduce costs for installation, operation and maintenance.
