Cyclone flow regulator, CYE

Mounted submerged flow regulator for controlling water volumes of 8-600 l/s.

Cyklone Flow Regulator, CYE

The Cyclone Flow Regulator, type CYE, is manufactured for a specific capacity, typically within the capacity range of 8 l/s up to 600 l/s (see diagram). It can be used for all types of drainage water, i.e. rainwater, waste water or a mixture of rainwater and waste water.

The design of Mosbaek's Cyclone Flow Regulator ensures that the mean discharge is significantly higher than other simple flow-control techniques. It has steeper flow-control characteristics and can maximise discharge at both the peak of the characteristic and the design point (hdesign, Qdesign). See an illustration of this in the characteristic for the CYE regulator.

This ideal design gives Mosbaek's Cyclone Flow Regulator unique flow-regulating properties. It explains why Mosbaek's flow regulators have the biggest orifice openings and minimise the risk of clogging. During operation, the flow regulator's orifice opening is unchanged; it does not gradually get smaller when the water level rises, as is the case for some flow-control techniques.

The CYE regulator has a patented, adjustable inlet orifice. The inlet orifice is infinitely adjustable to ±25% of the capacity in the centre position. The setting interval for each individual flow regulator varies.

The flow regulator is the only one on the market that can be adjusted on site without having to replace components: two screws are loosened with a hexagon spanner and the orifice is adjusted. If you wish to change the capacity, you can contact Mosbaek A/S. We identify the flow regulator from its reference number and then calculate the orifice setting for the new capacity.

The Cyclone Flow Regulator, type CYE, is mounted on the outlet of the chamber, meaning that it is submerged during operation. It is equipped with a connector, customised for the specific project and easily installable by insertion in the outlet.

This type of flow regulator is designed to be embedded in concrete. The accumulation of sediments is minimised by casting the benching to have a downward slope from all sides toward the manhole channel. It is also easier to clean the structure by flushing it out from above before descending. This enables inspection, service or capacity changes to take place under ideal hygienic conditions.

The rounded channel before and through the flow regulator and a directional change of only 45° through the flow regulator maximises Mosbaek's Cyclone Flow Regulator's self-cleansing properties.

In many instances, the Cyclone Flow Regulator can be built into existing or custom-designed chambers or tanks as it requires very little space.

Proporties

  • Controls flow using centrifugal force in the vortex chamber
  • Large orifice opening that remains unchanged during operation
  • No moving parts
  • No electric components
  • Made of Acid-resistant stainless steel AISI 316L (Werkstoff 1.4404)

The properties reduce costs for installation, operation and maintenance.
